JUNKANOO

Layford Cay, Bahamas  One of the best things about living in New York is the accessibly to all its surroundings. For Easter weekend I hopped on a plane and in just 3 hours I landed in Paradise… The Bahamas! Where not only was I able to enjoy the beautiful weather and nature, but also got to experience the Bahamian traditional dance: Junkanoo! By Carolina Pimenta

A Little More Fun in the Sun

Miami, Florida Everyone in New York City was thinking exactly the same thing this past weekend- how the hell did it get so cold? I mean, it was 80 degrees last weekend and this Saturday night we found ourselves hanging on to anyone we could find for body warmth. So we decided to cheer everyone with thoughts of better times aka a few months ago in Miami. So as we gaze at this picture of Carolina running off the dock we can reminice about better times and think: “only a few more weeks and then we will be complaining about the heat”

How to Wear a Denim Shirt Without Looking Like a Cowboy

New York, New York Let’s be honest- it’s quite bloody hard to wear a denim shirt without looking like you came out of a cheesy Western. Yes, we know, it’s the trend and all that but pulling it off with elan is a totally different story. So, considering we kind of live, breathe and obsess over denim, we thought it was our civil duty to show everyone how to wear this spring must-have.

The LES hipster (pictured) Wearing a denim shirt like the Blake by DL1961 with neutral tank and long skirt is a great way to work two trends at once without it being a fashion faux pax. When working this trend remember to keep the rest of the accessories simple and easy going. Just walk out to the door with combat boots (or converse) and some awesome shades and you’re good to go.

The Sweet Southern Girl (that went bad after coming to New York) In the South it is acceptable to wear denim and on denim with a cowboy hat. But, if you have settled anywhere above the Mason-Dixon line, just leave that combination out of the mix. Instead, pair a micro mini floral dress (huge for spring) and a denim shirt with motorcycle boots for a look that is extremely sexy yet sweet. Keep your hair in loose waves, pile on some bronzer (We recommend anything by NARS) and you’re good to go.

The Casual Cool Cat You can never go wrong with the standard grey, black and denim combo. However you want to put it together this combination is tried and tested and gives you an instantly chic look. Try pairing some sleek black pants (or black jeans would work too like Emma in Onyx by DL1961), a grey wife-beater and a denim shirt. Trust us, it’s simple yet extremely noteworthy.

New York, New York It’s been a while since we have seen CitySpy editor, Carolina on The Indigo Standard and I know that you all have missed her as much as we have! And boy, doesn’t she look fierce? Not Your Average Stroll in the Park

Sintra/Cascais, Portugal For her last couple of weeks in Portugal, Carol spent her time between the two gorgeous towns of Sintra and Cascais roaming the gardens and indulging in some stunning Roman architecture. As these pictures show, the weather, the landscape and her outfit were perfection! (I know we shouldn’t take away from her breathtaking surroundings but honestly, her outfit is really worth a mention) How many people you know can nonchalantly wear a leopard fur jacket, and not have it wear them? Yeah we didn’t think so…

Chance Encounters In Porto

Porto, Portugal Carol will be back in New York City soon but before she heads back she is ending her European whirlwind where it began: Porto. Even though she is a Porto native she can never get enough of the galleries. She is perpetually on the hunt for something new and fresh. On one such outing she found something rather unexpected! It seems the DL craze seems to have seeped across the pond because there it was in plain sight, a gorgeous blonde sporting our very own DL1961 jeans outside a gallery in Porto. Carol went up to her and asked to take a picture and she was more than happy to oblige. Paula, I hope Carol hasn’t found her new partner in crime….I think it’s time to summon her back to New York City before she does!

Winter Blues? Yea Right.

Austria So while Paula, aka Carolina’s partner in crime, is soaking up the sun in Brazil (pictures coming soon), Carolina is having her own fun in the freezing temperatures of Austria. She seems to have made most of the weather by engaging in some rather interesting winter sports like hunting and ice-skating. It appears that her petite frame is extremely deceptive because as the pictures show, she can really work her way around a gun!

Porto, Portugal Carolina looks exquisite in her electric blue DL1961 jeans. The gorgeous blue and black combination pops against her stark white surroundings. All and all it makes for one gorgeous picture! She has put her own spin on a holiday look that we had previous featured as part of our Holiday Looks Style book (pictured below). But adding motorcycle boots and a cream and black handbag she exudes a sort of moto/girly glamour.

Neon Accessories in Winter- Yes Please!

London, England Carolina is still living it up in London and pulling off one amazing outfit after another. Today she is donning a color traditionally only reserved for hot summer days- neon pink. Mind you, its about 10 degrees Celsius in London at the moment! But somehow, in true Carol fashion, she cleverly integrates this bright hue in her otherwise monotone outfit. The result is an look that is still consistent with her rocker chic but also in keeping with the fun holiday mood.
